Naval Support Unit (NSU) Saratoga Springs, NY is located in one of the most scenic areas of the country, near the capital of New York State. Located between the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains, this area offers history, recreation, and relaxation, and activities range from the nation's oldest thoroughbred racetrack to historic natural spring spas. Here, the Battle of Saratoga was won, pivotal in America's fight for independence. Charming shops and cafes await you downtown. Yaddo rose gardens will dazzle you with their fragrance and beauty. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center entertains a variety of musical concerts and the ballet. The Support Unit is located close to downtown Saratoga Springs and most importantly to the Nuclear Power Training Unit Ballston Spa.
NSU Saratoga Springs serves an active duty population of approximately 3,000. In addition there is a large NY Air National Guard Base in Scotia, NY, as well as a Naval Operations Support Center (NOSC) and several Recruiting Stations within a 50 mile radius.
Naval Administrative Unit (NAU) Scotia, NY was established in Scotia, NY in 1974. Following years of exemplary service, the NAU Scotia was moved to Saratoga Springs, NY and renamed Naval Support Unit (NSU) Saratoga Springs, NY in 1999. NSU supports commands within the New York State Capital Region, and is located approximately 35 miles north of the state capital, Albany.
All NSU functions are located in Saratoga Springs, including the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC), the Customer Service Department, the Housing Office and its respective units, a Navy Federal Credit Union, the Navy Medical/Dental Clinic, a mini Navy Exchange, and the Personal Property Office. The MWR Office is located just outside Saratoga Springs and is a short drive from NSU. Only the commissary and main Navy Exchange remain in Scotia, and there are plans to move both to Saratoga Springs in FY09.
