Nike Missile Base SL-40 Hecker, Illinois - Photos Administration Building
The Administration Building is located East central portion of base, southeast of Mess Hall. This building provided administration and housing facilities for the base. Engineering drawings indicate that most Nike administration buildings contained a day room, offices for the battery commander, battery officers, and the 1st Sergeant, a supply room, hobby room, communications room, barber shop, mail room, restroom, and a room for arms storage. The building was built in 1958 from standardized drawings approved by the Corps of Engineers, which were designed by the firm of Spector and Montgomery of Falls Church, Virginia. An addition to this building was constructed in 1967.
The administration building is a large masonry structure containing 4,565 square feet. It has concrete footings, foundation, and floor, concrete block walls, a built-up roof, sealed, panelled and painted interior walls, concrete and tile floors, drywall ceilings, electrical service and restroom facilities. The building has sixteen double windows, and seven doors.
